TUESDAY, Wednesday, Thursday: “NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNICH.” is timely and topical. TONIGHT: “LILLIAN RUSSELL.” A thoroughly realistic picture, “LILLIAN RUSSELL,” is at the State Theatre, presenting the life and loves of the famed actress who for thirty years thrilled theatre-goers -. with her marvellous-voice, her mas- ' terful acting and her incredible ~ beauty. Featuring Alice Faye in the L title role with Don Ameche, Henry * Fonda and Edward Arnold (as Diamond Jim Brady), Darryl F. Zanuck’s production of “LILLIAN RUSSELL" is packed with all the attributes of grand entertainment. TUESDAY NEXT (New Year's Eve), at 8 p.m. and a GRAND GALA LATE SESSION at 10.15 p.m., “DANCE, GIRL, DANCE.” Using as its basis the heartaches, joys and. tempestuous romances of backstage life, “DANCE, GIRL, DANCE” is claimed by the management to be the year’s most unique screen offering. Maureen O'Hara, Louis Hayward and Lucille Ball have the stellar roles in this R.K.O. Radio film which is replete with spectacular dance numbers and captivating songs. The vivid story traces the adventures of an Irish dancer (Maureen) who dreams of some day becoming a famous ballet dancer, and of a go-getting chorine (Lucille) whose ambition is to lure any man who is financially attractive. Louis Hayward, as a millionaire playboy who becomes one of her victims; Virginia Field, as his divorced wife, and Ralph Bellamy, as a dance impresario who eventually answers Maureen’s dreams, have other pivotal roles, as do Mary Carlisle, Katharine Alexander, Maria Ouspenskaya. Edward Brophy and Walter Abel. COSY THEATRE. TOMORROW and Monday: “FATAL HOUR,” another of the thrilling Mr Wong, Chinese detective series. Also screening, “LAW OF THE PAMPAS,” Hopalong Cassidy wins a new • badge of courage in thrill-packed adventures of the Argentine, starring William Boyd, Sydney Toler, Russell . Hayden and the King’s Men. JANUARY 1 and 2: "SOUTH TO KARANGA,” an exciting story of perils, romance and mystery in the African copper mines, Charles Bickford Luli Deste and James Craig are featured. “SING, DANCE, PLENTY HOT,” claimed by the management to be the brightest, merriest and funniest musical in a decade. Johnny Downs, Billy Gilbert, Ruth Terry and Vera Vague are in the leading roles.
