Misses Norecn Cohen and Rina Cohen, of Wellington, will be in Masterton for the Christmas holidays. Misses Nell Cohen and Moira Courtnay, of New Plymouth, will spend the Christmas holiday in Masterton. Mrs A. Mrs. W. Hume, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. W. Trevor Hume, "Raho Ruru,” Featherston, for the Christmas holidays.
Mr and Mrs J. Murphy, of Wellington, will be the guests of Mrs Murphy’s mother, Mrs Dwyer, Albert Street,. Masterton, over the Christmas holidays.
The death has occurred in her eightieth year of Mrs. Margaret Sloan, widow of Mr. Robert Sloan, of Mansfield Street. Wellington South. Mrs. Sloan was born in Elgin, Scotland. She came to New Zealand about 60 years ago, and for more than 50 years has resided in Wellington South.
The claim to be the oldest New Zea-land-born person still living, put forward cautiously some time ago on behalf of Mrs. Mary Parker, Devonport, has not been challenged, and it is very unlikely that it will be. Foi' Mrs. ParkI er was born at Man-o-War Bay, eastern Waiheke Island, on Christmas Day, 1841. Her marriage certificate shows the date of her birth as Christmas Day, 1842, but she says there is a mistake of a year in that, and she will be 99 on Christmas Day.
