NEW TYPE BOMBING PLANE. Shown in a test flight is the "Republic Guardsman,” new type fighting craft being produced by the Republic Aviation Corp., for Sweden. The triple crown of Sweden is on the fuselage. The plane, heavily armed, and carrying a Pratt and Whitney twin wasp motor, 1200 h.p., is capable of attaining speeds over 370 miles an hour. It can carry a load of bombs weighing 1,350 pounds, and has a flying range of 1,800 miles. It is armed with two 30-calibre machine guns synchronised with the propeller, and a flexible 30-calibre gun in the rear cockpit. With bombs released, the craft becomes an effective pursuit-intercepter to attack enemy bombers.
