Applications by farmers of the Wellington province for secondary .school boys during the holiday period did not come up to expectations. Ninety boys were enrolled with the r Youth Centre, but till today only 15 farmers had applied. Two of these each agreed to take two boys. At the eleventh hour, a further application came in. It was the best received, six boys being required. This brings the number to 23. Four boys have gone to sheep farms, five to dairy farms and two to mixed farms. It is known that 13 of the boys who enrolled have found other work which they were advised to seek. Fifty-four unplaced boys remain on the roll.
