WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION SENIOR GAMES ON SATURDAY. WINS FOR RED STAR AND COLLEGE. The senior championship matches were continued on Saturday in dull weather with a slight shower or two of rain. At the College ground the College team scored a five point win over Lansdowne, and at the Park, Red Star beat Old Boys by an innings and 122 runs.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP RED STAR v. OLD BOYS, A HOLIDAY SPIRIT. The wicket at the Park was somewhat dead for the Red Star v. Old Boys match. Red Star got Old Boys out for a small total in the first innings. Six wickets were down for 6 runs at one stage, but thanks to Patrick’s excellent 42 (including eight 4’s) the total was taken to 71. The second innings of Old Boys was reminiscent of holiday cricket, both teams entering with a jovial spirit into the game and getting plenty of amusement out of it. Seven wickets were down at one stage for 35 but the tail wagged. O'Kane, the Red Star footballer and cricketed filled a gap in the Old Boys ranks as they were one short, and he hit up 24, not out, including a 5 and four 4’s. Hibbs played a solid innings for 24 which included three 4’s, while •Barr registered four 4’s in a well compiled 19. After the afternoon tea adjournment Lambourn had a turn at bowling, Jack Renner going behind the wickets. Then the fun started. A bowlei- would be reprimanded for taking a wicket, and immediately taken off; a fieldsman would be chastised for stopping an overthrow, and two fieldsmen assisted by a spectator were seen indulging in a game of soccer with a ball hit by a batsman, the -spectator finally scoring a “goal” by kicking it over the boundary, a 4 being registered to the batsman. And so the fun continued right to the end of the game, which closed when a Star fieldsman caught out the last Old Boys player, not heeding an earnest appeal by a clubmate to drop the ball and not spoil the game, as “time” was a long way off.
