Mrs Peter McLaren, of Masterton, is paying a visit to Hastings.

A recent Masterton visitor to Hastings was Mrs G. H. Perry. Miss Judy Sharp, of Featherston, is i visitor to Hastings. Mrs G. S. Sharp, of Featherston, has seen on a visit to Hastings. Mrs Hassall, of Masterton, is visiting her son, Mr Gilbert Hassall, of Palmerston North, prior to his leaving Feilding to take up a new position with the Bank of New Zealand at Wairoa.

At the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board held in Masterton today the Matron of Masterton Hospital, Miss M: F. Barnett, reported that Nurses Larson, Moylan. Rolls. Arnold, Hammond, Brisco and RocheKelly had passed the cooking examinations recently conducted at the hospital. There were no failures. The death has occurred at her residence, Gladstone Road, Woodville, of Mrs Frances Jane Cox, widow of the late Mr Henry Cox, in her 96th year. Mrs Cox. was the oldest surviving link with the early pioneers who began the conversion of forest lands into the advanced farming district which surrounds Woodville today. On January 24 this year Mrs Cox’s ninety-fifth birthday was celebrated by a reunion of family and friends, and the event received wide recognition. A daughter is Mrs H. Hutchinson, of Masterton.
