U-BOAT BASES
MORE ATTACKS BY BRITISH BOMBERS LITTLE NAZI ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN. DECORATION OF POLISH AIRMEN. German U-boat bases at Brest and Lorient were attacked on Saturday evening by small formations of R.A.F. bombers, the 8.8. C. states. All our planes returned safely. Since the raid on Sheffield on Thursday night there has been very little enemy air activity over Britain. No bombs were dropped on Britain in daylight on Saturday. At night London had one brief alert, without any incident being reported, and there were tip and run raids on other parts of the country. Four Polish airmen have been decorated with the D.F C. and a fifth D.F.C. has been awarded posthumously to a member of the same squadron killed in action. The five airmen between them destroyed 44 enemy aircraft and severely damaged others. The airmen have also been awarded the decoration which is the Polish equivalent of the V.C.
