GREEK THRUST IN COASTAL ZONE
Last Mountain Barrier Mastered PORT RAIDED HEAVILY BY ROYAL AIR FORCE ITALIANS DIGGING IN ROUND TOWN The port of Valona, which is now the principal immediate objective of the Greek armies in Albania, was twice raided by the Royal Air Force on Saturday, the 8.8. C. reports. In the first raid military stores, a motor transport park and an army barracks were bombed. The second raid was directed at the aerodrome, where all bombs fell in the (target area. From both raids all the British aircraft returned safely. With the raids in progress, Italian troops were reported to be digging in round the town. Heavy fighting is reported in the Tepelene area, on the route from Argyrokastron to Valona. An Italian communique admits that three raids on Naples were made by Royal Air Force bombers on Saturday night. The communique states that a medium-sized unit of the Italian Navy was hit and damaged, fifty members of the crew being killed, A small sailing boat was hit and sunk. The communique also admits British raids on military objectives in Eritrea.
