NEW ZEALANDERS BEAT ALDERSHOT BRITISH TEAM BETTER IN FIRST HALF. TINDILL SCORES MAGNIFICENT TRY. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, December 15. The New Zealand Army Rugby team beat the Aidershot Command B—o. The “Sunday Times” says the New Zealanders had much the worse of the first half. Then an all-round improvement brought victory. The All Blacks were clearly outplayed behind the scrum in the first half and only the fearless tackling of the backs prevented Aidershot scoring. Bonner got over wide out for the New Zealanders just before the interval for a try which was quite against the run of play. The New Zealanders then showed real form, putting Aidershot on the defensive for long periods. Tindill, the scrum half, scored a magnificent try, darting from the scrum and running hard and straight after selling a “dummy.” A clever hand-off carried him over when tackled a yard from the line. Peterson made no mistake with the kick. The match was played in rain. The ground was heavy and the ball greasy. The New Zealand team was: Fullback, Paterson. Three-quarters: Private R. Bonner (Auckland Battalion), O’Hearn and Private M. H. Parsons (Maori Battalion). Five-eighths: Private G. E. King (Auckland Battalion), Neighbours. Half-back: Tindill. Forwards: Gunner B. W. Johnston (Fifth Regiment), Private T. Fowler (Wellington), Pepper, Mac Lean, SergeantMajor F. Solomon (Composite Battalion), Cooper, Thomson and Harrison.
