RETURN FROM DELHI
FOUR NEW ZEALAND DELEGATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 15. Four of the New Zealand delegates who attended the Eastern Group Conference recently held at Delhi, returned to Auckland by the Tasman Empire Airways flying-boat Aotearoa. They were Major H. E. Erridge, officer commanding the New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps, Mr F. R. Picot, Director of the Internal Marketing Department, Mr J. R. Middleton, Assistant-Secre-tary of Supply, and Mr B. Taylor, assistant to the chief investigating officer of the Treasury Department. The Chief of the General Staff, Major-General Sir John Duigan, who led the delegation, will arrive later. He went on to Egypt from Delhi to inspect the troops of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The delegates who returned said it was not possible at this stage to discuss any of the aspects of the conference. They were required to report on it to the Government and were not at liberty to discuss it themselves. The conference had been charged with the duty of ensuring the best possible use of the existing and potential resources possessed by Empire countries in the eastern hemisphere for the purpose of the war, and it was merely possible to say that the conference had thoroughly investigated all important matters placed before it with heartening results.
