SALE AT FEILDING STORE CATTLE CHEAPER. STEADY DEMAND FOR MUTTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, December 13. Unchanged prices ruled in all sections of the Feilding stock sale today except for store cattle, which were decidedly weaker in price and demand than last week. Fat sheep: There was a steady demand for all classes of mutton, the entry not being in excess of market requirements. Extra prime ewes made 18s. Id. to 19s. 10d.. prime IGs. 7d. to 17s. 10d., unfinished 13s. 3d. to 15s. Gd.; extra prime wethers, 235. lOd. to 245. 10d., prime 225. to 235. 7d„ light 19s. 4d. to 21s. 7d.; prime hoggets, 295. Id., light prime 235. 7d. to 255. 4d.; best lambs 22s 4d„ small 19s. lOd. to 20s. 7d. Store sheep: There was not much inquiry for the few lines of store sheep offering, the only sale being two-tooth ewes at 27s 9d. Store cattle: Station cattle were in good supply, but the demand fell away compared with that of the past two or three weeks, and many lots were passed in at auction. A good proportion of young stock was sold, however. Good twoyear heifers sold for £6 9s. to £6 16s„ best yearling heifers, £4 14s. to £5 Is.; good two-year steers, £7 Is. to £7 10s.; three-year steers, £8 Is. Dairy cattle: Late rates were paid for a light entry of cows and heifers. Best springing heifers brought £7 ss. to £8 12s. 6d., others £5 7s. 6d.; to £6 155.; good springing cows £7 to £8 55., others £5 15s. to £6 15s Fat cattle: No heavyweight beef was on offer and prices remained about on a par with last week’s. Prime A.A. cows made £8 12s. 6d. to £9 155.. light prime £7 10s. to £8 7s. 6d„ unfinished and ex-dairy sorts £5 17s. 6d. to £7 55.; prime heifers, £lO 7s. 6d. Pigs: A light supply sold freely. “Veaners brought 14s. to 215., slips 225. Gd. to 255. 6d.; porkers, £2 19s. 6d.
CARTERTON SALE FAT CATTLE EASIER. BACONERS AND PORKERS IN DEMAND Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—A small entry of stock came forward at Carterton yesterday. No fat sheep were offered. Stores sold at late rates. Fat cattle were slightly easier and stores about the same. A few springing cows and heifers were offered, but did not meet with much competition. A big entry of pigs came forward, and while baconers and porkers met with good competition, small pigs were much lower than prices obtained at recent sales. The following are prices. Shorn twotooth ewes (small), 225. 6d., shorn twotcoth wethers (small), 13s. Gd. to 17s. 9d. W. ewe hoggets, 295. Gd., shorn b.f. hoggets, 15s. 3d., fat and forward hoggets, 255. Springing cows and heifers £5 10s. to £7; fat cows £G 55.. to £7 10s. Fat heifers, £7 15s, forward cows, £3 10s. to £4 Bs.; store cows, £2 to £2 Gs. Potter bulls, £6 to £7. Pigs:—Baconers, £3 10s„ £3 Ils. to £3 175.; porkers, 365., 375„ £2 Is., to £2 95.; slips, 275.. 295., 355. 6d.. to 38s. Gd.; weaners, 17s. 6d„ 19s. to 235.; sows to farrow, £3 10s„ £4 55., to £4 10s.
