According to the Mackay radio, the Norwegian steamer Hidlefjord (7639 tons) reported that a mysterious ship was firing on it sdeg. 20min. north, 12deg, 33min. west at 7.10 p.m. The steamer Empire Jaguar (not listed at Lloyd's, but believed to be a vessel recently acquired by Britain from the United States) 'was torpedoed at 14deg. 34min. north, 17deg. 35min. west at 6.40 p.m.
