PUBLIC NOTICES. WAIRARAPA ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. PETITION UNDER fTHE ELECTRIC. POWER BOARD’S ACT. 1925” AND ITS AMENDMENTS. PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that after the expiry of one month from the date of this publication the following Petition will be presented to His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral of the Dominion of New Zealand:— IN THE MATTER of “The Electric Power Boards’ Act, 1925” and its amendments. TO —His Excellency the GovernorGeneral of the Dominion of New Zealand. The Petition of us the under-signed praying that the areas hereinafter set forth (being part of the Outer Area of the Wairarapa Electric-power District) be added to the Wairarapa Elec-tric-power District humbly sheweth:
1. THAT your petitioners are the ratepayers in respect of the lands the descriptions of which are set opposite the respective signatures of your petitioners in the schedules hereto. 2. THAT the lands referred to in Paragraph 1 are situated within the boundaries of the Area described in Paragraph 4 hereof which Area it is proposed to include in the Wairarapa Electric-power District by extending the boundaries of such District. 3. THAT the Area which it is proposed to include in the Wairarapa Elec-tric-power District is situated within the Outer Area of such District in the Masterton County and will constitute an extension of the Constituent District of the Masterton Countji of the Wairarapa Electricpower District. 4. THAT the Area now proposed to be added to the Wairarapa Electricpower District contains all that area of land situated in the Wellington Land District being portion of the County of Masterton bounded as follows:— Commencing at a point on the northern boundary of Section 50, Block V, Kopuarahga Survey District, being the' intersection of the southern boundary of Mauriceville County with the northern boundary of portion of the Wairarapa Electricpower District as described in New Zealand Gazette No. 10 of the 10th February, 1938; towards the east and south-east generally by portion of Wairarapa Electric-power District aforesaid to the eastern bank of the Ruamahanga River at the north-western corner of Section 20, Block IX, Kopuara'nga Survey District; thence towards the west generally by the eastern bank of Ruamahanga River, to and.by the south-eastern boundary of Section 71, Block VIII, Miki Miki Survey District, to the southern boundary of the County of Mauriceville; thence towards the north generally by the County of Mauriceville to the point of commencement. 5. The total number of ratepayers in the said Area described in Paragraph 4 hereof - is forty-two the estimated population is one hundred and fifty and the Government Valuation of the rateable property in such Area is:— Improved Value £73,433 Unimproved Value .... £42,118 6. The Wairarapa Electric-power District as at present constituted comprises nine constituent Districts with a total of nine representatives on the Wairarapa Electric-power Board which Districts and the number of representatives elected by, each are as follows: — | Constituent District of Masterton Borough Two Members Constituent District of | Carterton Borough One Member I Constituent District of Greytown Borough One Member ■ Constituent District of Featherston Borough One Member Constituent District of Martinborough Bor-
ough One Member Constituent District of Portion Masterton County (p) Portion Castlepoint County) : One Member Constituent District of Wairararapa South County One Member Constituent District of Featherston County One Member 7. It is proposed—(a) That the constituent District of part of Masterton County be extended to include that portion of such County which it is now proposed to add to the Wairarapa Elec-tric-power District. (b) That the existing membership of the Wairarapa Electricpower Board shall not be affected in any way by the addition to the Wairarapa Electric-power District of the Area described in Paragraph 4 hereof. 8. That your petitioners believe that it is in the public interests generally and in the interests of the ratepayers within the Area described in Paragraph 4 hereof in particular that the Wairarapa Electric-power District be extended to include such Area. 9. That your petitioners constitute not ’ less than one-fourth in number of the ratepayers in respect of the lands the descriptions of which are set out opposite the respective signatures of your petitioners in the schedule hereto.
WHEREFOR your petitioners pray that the said Area set out in Paragraph 4 hereof be added to the Wairarapa Electric-power District under the provisions of “The Electric Power Boards’ Act, 1925” and its amendments. A copy of the Petition and a Plan showing the portion of the Masterton County described in Clause 4 of such Petition may during office hours, be inspected at the Office of the Masterton County Council at Masterton, and the Petition, together with a similar plan, may during office hours, be inspected at the Office of the Wairarapa Electric-power Board, Memorial Square, Carterton.
