BANANA MARKETING
ASSISTANCE TO GROWERS IN JAMAICA. (British Oll’icial Wireless.) RUGBY, December 5. Before the Government took its recent decision to suspend the import of bananas for two months, arrangements had already been made for all Jamaica bananas to be disposed of through the pool operated by the marketing companies, said the Under-Secretary for the Colonies in answer to a House of Commons’ question. A guarantee at the same time to growers of a minimum price would be implemented and would enable them to carry on while normal shipments to Britain were suspended. The advice of the Governor of Jamaica had been asked regarding further measures of assistance.
