CHILDREN'S DANCE
AT CARTERTON LAST NIGHT A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. MANY SPLENDID COSTUMES IN EVIDENCE. (“Times-Age" Special.) There was an attendance of over 250 children at the annual dance last night held by the children attending the Carterton District High School. The children occupied the floor from 7.30 o’clock till 10 o'clock. The gathering was a brilliant success and many exceptionally fine costumes were in evidence. The folk dances, etc., were cleverly performed and reflected the greatest credit upon those responsible for their training. The music for the children's part of the programme was provided from a gramophone and amplifier lent by Mr Tom Udy. The Grand March by the senior and junior scholars was warmly applauded. At the conclusion of the children's programme the adults indulged in dancing to music supplied by Mr T. Udy’s Orchestra. The children were provided with supper supplied by the parents and ladies of the district. The supper arrangements were in charge of the Heme and School Association assisted by a number of willing workers. The children's dances were controlled by the teachers and for the adult programme Messrs P. Beere and G. Stack, members of the school committee, acted as M.'sC.

The money is to be spent by the headmaster (MiMartin) and his staff in providing-much-needed material in the school. The headmaster and his staff should feel proud of the result.
