OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
HOSiNG RESTRICTIONS (To the Editor.) Sir, —Well, well, that hardy old annual notice issued again by the Borough Council, curtailing the use of water. A few hundred misdirected ratepayers. after seeing in a window Exhibit A. depicting a work of art in lining cement in a small piece of water piping, decided to vote £lO,OOO (which was spent outside the district) on a scheme which would give plenty of water for all requirements. With what results- —money spent, twenty years in debt, and no better pressure of water, definitely worse. In the notice we are zoned for water. A few months ago it was milk. Next bread. What next? A ratepayers’ association is needed in this town to check those wasteful schemes and loans which are an ever-increasing burden. —Thanking you, I am. etc.. RATEPAYER. Masterton, December 4. The Borough authorities, to whom the above letter was submitted, declined to make any reply to an anonymous critic. It must be pointed out, however, that no promise was ever made that the lining of the mains i “would give plenty of water for all requirements.” What was claimed was that there would be an appreciable increase in flow through the lined pipes. The work is not yet completed. —Ed.
