FOR SAFETY OF BRITISH PORTS LOSSES IN MINE-SWEEPING FORCES. AN ADMIRALTY TRIBUTE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) RUGBY. December 5. Announcing the loss of four trawlers and one drifter, an Admiralty communique adds: —“Communiques issued by the German High Command lay continued stress upon the mining of British ports. These ports and their approaches are kept clear of mines from day to day by the tenacity, courage and devotion of our mine-sweeping forces. The enemy is using all manner of devices to prevent and hinder the sweeping of these mines. Although the success of these devices has been limited and is likely to decrease, they have imposed losses on our mine-sweeping forces.”
