LICENSING COMMITTEE
MEETING AT CARTERTON TRANSFERS OF LICENCES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The quarterly sitting of the Wairarapa Licensing Committee was held at the Carterton Courthouse at noon today. Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided. Also on the Bench were Messrs. J. Purvis (Upper Hutt), W. C. M. Sorenson (Carterton) and F. W. Smith (Featherston). Reference was made to' the death, since the last meeting of Mr. H. T. Reese (Greytown). A motion of condolence with the relatives was passed. Senior-Sergeant G. A. Doggett (Masterton) represented the Police Department. The following applications for transfer of publican’s licences were dealt with:— Marine Hotel, Whakataki.—Thomas Hanley, to Laurence James Reed. Granted. Martinborough Hotel. —Samuel Robert Buckeridge to Ernest James Lane. Granted. Mr D. L. Taverner appeared for the applicant. Mr. Lawry commented briefly on the favourable police reports.
