DEFENCE PROBLEMS DISCUSSED When the secret session of the House of Representatives ended at 12.50 o’clock this morning the following official statement was issued under the direction of the Speaker, Mr. Barnard: “The Prime Minister reviewed developments in the internatoinal field since the last secret session. The present position in the various theatres of war was also dealt with. ■ He indicated the progress made in the provision of munitions and supply generally. The problems of local defence and the steps taken to meet the requirements of. the situation were outlined by him.” A total of 21 other speakers took part in the debate.
