A New Two-year-old.

Gay Genet, one of the new two-year-olds which raced at Feilding. was bred in Australia, and is trained by Mr J. H. Jefferd for her purchaser, Mr J. G. Alexander, Maxwell. She is a chestnut by the Fairway horse Piccadilly from Vivere, by Heroic from Troisieme, by The Welkin from Teppo, by Landos. This is a speedy and wellperformed family, Troisieme being a sister to Thrice, Three, and Trey (dam of Trivalve), also to Deneb, dam of Cheloe, and granddam of Hall Mark, Limulus, Pure Gold, and Beau Frere. This family also produced Nuffield and Ajax. stock are in their first season. Consistent Juvenile. Minko is one of the most consistent two-year-olds in the North Island this season, for she has had only five starts and has never been further back than fourth. She filled this position in the Nursery Handicap at Avondale in September and again in the Welcome Stakes at Ellerslie in October. The following day she finished third in the Musket Stakes to Pay Roll and Nuna, and at Ellerslie last month was third in the Rakino Handicap. Minko is by Ringmaster from Severe, and cost her trainer, H. Gray, 170gnrs at the last national sales. Gray now races her in partnership with Mr D. R. Revell, and they should get their money back before the season is much further advanced.
