LANSDOWNE SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. PARENTS DAY ON DECEMBER 18. The monthly meeting of the Lansdowne School Committee was held last evening, Mr J. G. McFarlane presiding over a fair attendance of mem-' bers. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Donovan and Dagg. Accounts amounting to £8 0s 9d were passed for payment. The headmaster reported inter alia: —Roll number is 275, and the attendance very good. Tenders have been called for the raising of the open-air room. The work is to be done during the holidays. General maintenance work has been carried out, the grounds being in excellent order. The overseer had inspected the Dental Clinic building, and reported favourably on the proposal. A silver medal had been donated by Mr Seymour Gilding as a second prize in connection with art work. A cricket bat has been donated to the school by the Lansdowne Cricket Club. The schools will close on Friday. December 20, and reopen on Monday, February 3, 1941. Parents are cordially invited to visit the school on Wednesday afternoon December 18. when a programme will be given by the pupils, and a display of work made in .the various rooms. The prizes are to be distributed by the chairman (Mr J. G. McFarlane). The next meeting of the committee will be on Thursday. February 13 1941, at .7.30 p.m.
