WORK TO BE RESUMED

'GOLD DREDGE DISPUTE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, December 4. The Ngahere gold dredge, which has been idle since Monday of last week following notices of dismissal given by the company to men who did no work on the King’s Birthday holiday, will resume tomorrow on an assurance from the Minister of Labour. Mr. Webb, that a tribunal with Mr. J. A. Gilmour, industrial magistrate, as chairman, would sit in Greymouth on Saturday. . The president bf the Federation of Labour, Mr. A. McLaglan, indicated in a message to the support committee set up by the Westland Gold Dredge Workers' Union and the West Coast Trades and Labour Council, that the federation, ..after considering the facts, had expressed the opinion that the men’s action was justified.

It is understood that the terms of re-engagement of the men will not include a condition that a satisfactory settlement of the question of statutory and other holidays be reached beforehand. It was stated tonight on behalf of the‘men that they were resuming on an assurance from the Federation of Labour that they acted correctly, and a further assurance of the federation’s support.
