BOY SCOUTS ANNUAL REPORT OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual report of the local Scout Committee states inter alia: For the past two years the Scout movement has shown a forward advance and at date the full strength is: Cubs 24, Scouts 13. There has been a decided move to expand the Scout movement and the committee is most grateful to the joint Scout Masters, Messrs Grey and Tolley, for their untiring services and valued time given to the cause. The Cub section has also shown marked improvement in numbers as well as in their work, and to the Cub Master, Mr H. Smith, the thanks of the committee are extended for his work, as he has had a big job to undertake, and for quite a while he has been without an assistant, as Mr W. Leith had left the district. Owing to the unsatisfactory arrangement with the Hall which the Scouts had been renting, the committee decided to launch out and raise funds to purchase a permanent place for the Scout movement, and thanks are extended to all who so ably assisted with donations, that has made it possible for the committee to purchase the old Library building from the Borough Council at a very satisfactory price. With some slight alterations the building has now been made suitable for the use as a Scout Den, and is very much appreciated both by the boys and allows more scope for their instruction. To the Borough Council thanks are extended for the manner they met the committee to enable the purchase possible. During the year the Rev. Mr Kealls resigned, and the committee invited Mr Fordyce to fill the vacancy. On behalf of the committee, I remain, R. Payne, Chairman.
