FARMER OUTWITTED

BANK CLERK TOO SMART. A bank clerk in Southern Rhodesia, driving in his car one evening recently, ran into and killed a young heifer on the road. He dragged the animal off the road and next day wrote to the farmer concerned, apologised for the accident and asked what the damage would be, promising to send a cheque. The farmer wrote back: “In 15 years that heifer would have been worth to me at least £45, counting her increase and milk revenue.” . The bank official replied at once, enclosing his post-dated cheque for £45, available in 15 years’ time.
