SMALL FRUITS

WATERING IN DRY SPELLS. Much can be done to save the crops of small fruits in dry spells if watering is attended to, and this will also promote free growth in those which crop on growth made the previous summer. Strawberries are sometimes watered until the crop has been picked, then neglected, but this treatment should not be accorded new' beds. Among small fruits, watering is essential in the case of anything which has been newly planted. not forgetting the currant and gooseberry cuttings which W'ere taken last autumn. Remember also, that where mulching is practised, watering will be greatly reduced.
