R.A.F. assistance yesterday to the Greek armies in repelling Italian aggression included a successful raid on important military objectives in Valona. Despite bad weather and the presence of large enemy fighter patrols, the attack was pressed home and all the bombs were seen to fall in the target area. A fire started in a large building near the harbour was followed by a series of loud explosions. A stick of bombs fell on the main jetty and a ship received a direct hit. One enemy fighter CR 42 was shot down. In Argyrokastron area, one of the British fighters engaged shot down in flames an enemy reconnaissance aircraft. The R.A.F. has also been active in other parts of the Near and Middle East. A fort in Italian East Africa was raided and considerable damage was done to motor transport and to enemy personnel. Metemma was also attacked and numerous reconnaissances were carried out over enemy territory on all fronts and valuable information secured. From all of the operations all the British aircraft returned.
