NO COMMITMENTS
ACCEPTED BY RUSSIA AS OUTCOME OF TALKS WITH HITLER. ACCORDING TO LONDON CORRESPONDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright I (Received This Day. 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, December 3. Russia has refused to enter into any of the major commitments proposed by Hitler in his talks with M. Molotov, says the Daily Herald’s diplomatic correspondent. The Soviet is not interested in any aggressive adventures in the Persian Gulf or elsewhere. It considers the extension of Russia’s frontiers into Finland, Poland and Rumania and the incorporation of the Baltic States necessary for strategic reasons. M. Molotov told Hitler that Russia was not interested in spheres of influence, but was interested in spheres of security. Most important of all, Russia wished to preyent an extension of war in the Balkans, particularly to Turkey. Hitler is understood to have hinted that he would welcoffie a withdrawal or lessening of the Russian forces on the frontiers of Germany and Germanoccupied territories, but M. Molotov intimated that he was not prepared to discuss that.
