OPERA HOUSE
HAWAIIAN COMPANY.. Writing of the appearance of the Hawaiian company which will appear in the Opera House next Friday and Saturday evenings, the “Auckland Herald” says: “Lilting Polynesian music, graceful dancing, and carefree humour are blended in the colourful presentation, ‘“Hawaii Sings,” a musical revue now enjoying a successful season. The captivating Hawaiian hula, in its true form a vivid symbolic dance illustrating the picking of flowers, rain falling through the trees, the flight of birds and other aspects of Nature, is performed with brilliant artistry by Momi Kaaimoku. The leading dancer of the company, Miss Kaaimoku, is considered one of the most accomplished exponents of the hula in Honolulu, and she recently proved popular in an extended tour of the United Stales. Miss Kaaimoku also has a charming soprano voice, and her talent in this direction is rivalled by Aliiloa Lincoln. Two guitar soloists, Johnson Aila and Dan Kaeka, are other prominent artists.” The company will repeat its Auckland programme in Masterton. The plans is at Messrs Steele and Bull’s shoo.
