WORLD SITUATION

BRITISH ISRAEL SOCIETY ADDRESS. EVENTS IN MIDDLE EAST. There was a large audience at The Opera House, Masterton, recently to hear- an address of great interest in view of the present world situation by Major E. E. Barrows, under the auspices of the Masterton branch of the British Israel Society. Mr W. Kemp presided. Major Barrows dealt with the Jewish Zionists' claims, and with the conflicting claims of the Arab nationalists. The British Government had kept its pledges to each. The BritishIsrael movement had always held that while both Jew and Arab had some claim to residence in Palestine neither had an exclusive claim. Any partition plan was doomed to failure as the qlear mandate of Scripture was that Israel Britain should hold the sovereignty and that both Jew and Arab should reside thereunder in peace. Current events were proving that Britain was the stabilising factor. The plans laid down in the Bible for Palestine were unfolding with literal exactitude. It was delivered from the sword of the Turk in the exact year, 1917, which Biblical students had indicated as long ago as the last century. Prophecy, which was history pre-writ-ten, stated that Jerusalem was to be delivered “as birds flying." The bomber squadron which, by days of ceaseless activity, determined the Turks hurriedly to evacuate the city without the destruction they had planned, had as its motto “I spread' my wings and keep my promise.” He gave further instances of literal fullfillment of prophecy regarding the; Holy Land. The Bible, he said, showed that the final struggle by Anglo-Saxondom (or Israel) against what Ezekiel with astounding literal exactness calls in the Hebrew the “Nasi-Rosh” combination (the Nazi-Russia combination) would gravitate to Palestine and Egypt. For the reason that the Holy Writ did not show France as an ally of Israel Britain, in the struggle, British Israel students had anticipated France’s downfall. This reverse, however, was apparent rather than real, and in reality should give us confidence in the working out of God’s Plan set out thousands of years ago. Israel Britain might suffer further apparent reverses, even in Palestine and Egypt, but the final resultKvas inevitable, namely that Israel Britain would be used under God’s guidance to overthrow her ene-

mies and to establish the new world era. British statesmen were now saying exactly the same thing. Both speaker and chairman received a hearty vote of thanks.
