DOG & HALF=CROWN

DEMONSTRATION THAT WENT WRONG. Minor financial disaster overtook the owner of a Labrador retriever who was giving a demonstration, in a Masterton street yesterday, of the cleverness of his dog. The animal retrieved a half-crown most capably, but unfortunately followed up its achievement by swallowing the coin. There was something speculative as well as kindly in the owner’s regard of the dog as they took their departure, in close company.
