FRIENDLY FAREWELL
RETIREMENT OF DOMINION ANALYST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr. W. Donovan is retiring from the positions of Director of the Dominion Laboratory and Dominion Analyst, after 35 years’ service. A social function was attended last week by Dr. McMillan, the minister in charge of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and a large number of members of various Government departments, with a full representation from the Dominion Laboratory, also the head office and other Wellington branches. Dr. Marsden, secretary to the department presided. On behalf of the Dominion Laboratory staff, Mr. R. L. Andrew made a gift to Mr. Donovan of a writing desk, and good wishes from the Health Department were conveyed by Dr. T. R. Ritchie. A tribute was paid to the work done by Mr. Donovan in many fields of research, notably those in connection with fuel and mining problems.
