“PATERNAL PROPINQUITY”
MR RANDOLPH CHURCHILL’S MAIDEN SPEECH. WELL RECEIVED IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 28. Mr. Randolph Churchill, who delivered his maiden speech in the House of Commons, occupying 25 minutes, an unusually long time for a maiden address, is the subject of favourable comment in the London Press, which notes that the new member has the Churchill gift for phrase. The speech dealt mainly with the war aims as seen by the young generation. The House chuckled at - Mr. Randolph’s appeal for indulgence because of embarrassment caused by “paternal propinquity.”
