D.F.C. AWARD

TO AUCKLAND PILOT OFFICER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded to Pilot Officer Peter Duggan Smith, of Auckland. Pilot Officer Smith, who is 24 years of age, was formerly employed by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Shipping Company. In 1937 lie was selected for training with the Auckland Aero Club. He was granted a temporary commission in the R.N.Z.A.F. and left for England last year.
