MASTERTON GOLF CLUB

BUSINESS AT ANNUAL MEETING. TASK FOR OLDER MEMBERS. “It is up to the older members to put every effort forward during the war period to maintain the standard of the club,” said Mr H. P. Hugo, speaking at the annual meeting of the Masterton Golf Club last night, “so that when the younger members who are away at the war come back it will be the same club as it was when they left.” Mr G. W. Sellar (president) occupied the chair. Moving the adoption of the annual report, which has already been published in the “Times-Age,” Mr Sellar said that although the past year was not such a good one as in the previous year, he thought they could congratulate themselves on the year’s work. The reduced membership fees accounted in the main for the less profit recorded for the year. In these difficult times if they could carry on like that it would be quite ail right. The rinks had played very well and the greens were in tip-top order. The report was adopted unanimously. Officers were elected as follow:— President, Mr G. W. Sellar; vice-pre-sidents. Messrs J. V. Gordon and H. P. Hugo; club captain. Mr S. A. Man-

nering; committee, Messrs J. C. Broad, C. C. Campbell-Heard. W. E. Holdgate, J. E. Jenkins, C. R. Judd, H. J. Nitz and G. M Ross; hon secretary, Mr D. T. Herbert; hon treasurer, Mr N. G. Whiteman; hon auditor, Mr W. JVL Sellar. Ladies: Mrs G. W. Sellar-vice-president, Mrs N. H. James; captain, Mis H. H. Daniell; committee Mesdames R. R. Burridge, G. F Candy’ P. F. Fagan. W. E. Holdgate. S A Mannering, O. M. McKenzie and g’ T. O'Hara Smith; hon secretary, Mrs A. J. Drew. On the motion of Mr Ross, a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Drew and the ladies’ committee, especially for their work on opening and closing days and to Mr Campbell-Heard, who club 9 WOnderful lot of work for the Mr Sellar mentioned the splendid work also carried out by Mr Ross M . r C 'r *‘ yngdon refor >’ed to the good work of the retiring committee Mr Sellar agreed, stating that the grounds were m better order than he had seen them for a long time.
