WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT OPAKI. The November meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute was held at the home of Mrs Wingate. Mrs Beetham presided. The delegates to the Federation meeting at Carterton in October gave accounts of the activities there. There was an interesting discussion, led by the president, on the subject of home spinning. The roll call “Where I should like to live outside New Zealand,” was answered by all England was the choice of most. In the needlework competition the results were; Miss lorns, 1; Mrs Buick, 2; Mrs Beetham, 3. Vase of summer flowers: Miss lorns, 1; Mrs Malmo, 2; Mrs Thomson, 3. The December meeting will be held at Mrs Wingate’s home. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
