At Levin yesterday Wings of Song, unlucky on the first day, scored a decisive win in the Koputaroa Handicap. Getting away well, he was always in a winning position, and though Night Eruption came at him in the straight, she was unable to make much impression on him. Mittie, on the inner of Night Eruption throughout the running, essayed a run up on the rails in the straight, but the opening was not a good one, as Vascones did not weaken till too late, and a fair third was her portion at the finish. Vascones, Kentucky and Nelumbo were next. Kentucky was unlucky. He lost several lengths at the start and never had any chance afterward in a fast-run race. Counter Wins Well. „ Hanging on much better than in recent starts as a result of being ridden in behind. Counter (owner by Mr. J. 11. Payton, of Masterton), won the sevenfurlong event nicely at Levin yesterday. after beating off a strong challenge by War Cloud in the straight. War Cloud was weakening at the end and the favourite, Moderate, got up on the post to make a dead-heat for second place. Moderate was not at all well placed in the early running, and his final placing was much better than liis supporters dared hope for. Acrobat was fourth after having every chance, and All Bunsby also had every chance in the running, but was not good enough.
