SCATTERED RAIDS

MADE BY ENEMY PLANES DAMAGE AT SOME POINTS IN ENGLAND. DORNIER CAUGHT BY SPITFIRE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, November 25. “Since dawn, several enemy bombers, operating singly or in small formations, have crossed the south-east, and south coasts,” states a communique, “and one small formation reached the outskirts of the London area. “A town, on the coast of Kent was attacked shortly before noon. Several houses were damaged but the casualties were very small. Bombs were alsb dropped on a town on the south coast and at two other points in south-east England. Slight damage was done, but there were no casualties. “A Dornier was shot down into the sea off Dover this morning. A Spitfire pilot, flying- at 5,000 feet, first saw the raider 7,000 feet above him. He climbed to the attack and fired two short bursts and, climbing again, dived out of the sun. Pieces fell from the Dornier, which was last seen heading slowly towards France, losing height.”

An Air Ministry communique states: “Early on Sunday morning, aircraft of the Coastal Command attacked an aerodrome at Christiansand and other aircraft attacked a harbour in the Hook of Holland. “The Fleet Air Arm, operating with the Coastal Coriimand, bombed a dock at Boulogne. “Last night the Bomber Command again concentrated in attacks on the shipyards and industrial plants of Hamburg. Many fires and explosions followed. “Other targets bombed last night included the Altona gasworks, the Wilhelmshaven docks, a chemical factory at Harburg-Wilmelmsburg part of Boulogne, Den Helder, dockyards, antiaircraft and searchlight positions and enemy aerodromes and seaplane bases. One of our planes is missing.”
