BRITISH SUCCESSES
REPORTED IN SUDAN ITALIANS HARD PRESSED IN METEMMA. AIR RAID ON ALEXANDRIA. A Cairo communique transmitted by the 8.8. C. states that aggressive action has virtually cleared the Italians out of Metemma, in the Sudan. “So much,” the communique observes, “for Italian claims that Gallabat is still in their hands.” The situation on other African fronts is unchanged. Reuter reports that early yesterday morning Italian planes raided Alexandria. Some civilians were killed or injured and house property was damaged. The raiders were driven off by anti-aircraft fire.
