CROQUET
WAIRARAPA TOURNAMENT. RESULTS OF YESTERDAY'S PLAY. Play in the Wairarapa Croquet Tournament being held in Masterton was continued in showery weather yesterday afternoon. In the semi-final of the open championships singles Mrs Polson (Masterton) was defeated by Mrs Saunders (Featherston) in a keenly contested match. Both players took some time to settle down. Mrs Polson got away first and Mrs Saunders regained control with a long shot. Mrs Saunders carried on to win by 26-24. Father results are:— Handicap singles: Mrs Saunders beat Mrs G. A. Doggett, 26-24. Open singles: Mrs Polson beat Rev. W. Tye, 26-8; Mrs Saunders beat Mrs Polson, 26-24. Post entry competition: Mesdames Weller and Taylor beat Mesdames W. Thompson and J. McGregor, 14-11; Mesdames Shearer and I. I. McGregor beat Mesdames B. Thompson and Donnelly, 22-20; Mesdames Weller and Taylor beat Mesdames Ackerman and Betteridge, 26-7; Mesdames Snowsill and Doggett beat Mesdames I. I. McGregor and Shearer, 16-8.
