Several “officer-producing” schools already turning out men trained to hold commissions in the Australian Imperial Force or Australian military forces are to be enlarged, and new ones are to be formed with a view to training officers at the rate of more than 3,000 a year as from January next. The output of these schools as from January will be as under: Infantry Officers: Wing of Royal Military College, Duntroon, 240 a year; No. 1 Training School, Liverpool’ N.S.W.. 864 a year; No. 2 Training School, under construction at Albury, 864 a year. Medium Machine Gun: Randwick (former Small Arms School), 320 a year. Artillery: Field, medium and antitank (Holdsworthy), 400 a year; Coast and Anti-aircraft (South Head, Sydney). 320 a year; total, 3,008. In addition to the “officer-producing” schools, many schools have the dual function of providing refresher courses for officers and training N.C.O/s for commissioned rank.
