LADY GALWAY GUILD
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. REGRET AT HER EXCELLENCY'S DEPARTURE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. At the final meeting of the year of the executive, committee of the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild, held on November 21 at headquarters, Government House, the following resolution was passed:— “The members of the executive committee join in expressing sincere regret at your Excellency’s departure from New Zealand and wish you a safe and happy return to your home. Your many kindnesses and interest in the work of the guild will long be remembered by all. The executive wish to thank you sincerely for the opportunity given them and various groups of women for service for the relief of the distress of our people in the Homeland.” A report was receeived that 609 tons (cubic measurement) of clothing, etc., had been dispatched from all parts of New Zealand and that messages expressing appreciation of the efforts of women working for the guild had been received. The executive extends sincere thanks to the following:—British Ministry of Shipping, through the Overseas Shipowners’ Allotment Committee ,for free shipping space; harbour boards throughout New Zealand for free storage and harbour dues; the New Zealand Railways, for free railage; organisations, firms and persons for free accommodation; the many firms who have assisted with regard to laundering and dry-cleaning, cartage, the packing of gifts, cases and packing necessities; also the loan of machines, etc., and individuals for gifts of cash and articles for raffling.
