AIR COMMANDER
CAPTURED BY ITALIANS WITH SIX COMPANIONS. PLANE MAKES FORCED LANDING IN SICILY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON. November 21. An Italian communique says a British Wellington plane was forced down in Sicily and seven persons, including Air Vice-Marshal Owen Tudor Boyd, were captured. It was learned from the British AirMinistry that Air Vice-Marshal Boyd was reported missing, but no further details were available. Air Vice-Marshal Boyd on November 18 was appointed deputy to the air officer commanding-in-chief in the Middle East command. He was previously air officer commanding the Balloon Command and since 1938 had had charge of London’s balloon barrage. The 8.8. C. states that the Italians report that the six persons captured with Air Vice-Marshal Boyd include a major and three junior officers.
