EKETAHUNA
POWER BOARD BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Tararua Electric Power Board was held yesterday, the chairman (Mr Phil Davies) presiding, there being also present Messrs P. S. Page, C. T. Richardson, S. K. Siddells, L. Johnson, Cheetham, A. Bissett, T. Fouhy. W. Britland, J. Brechin, J. B. Carruthers. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr Page, the newly appointed representative of the Eketahuna Borough. Mr Page suitably replied. It was decided that the excellent services rendered to the Board by Mr W. Simpson be recorded in the minutes of the Board.
Accounts amounting to £2083 17s lid were passed for payment. The committee reported that it had appointed Mr H. H. Elmes. of Kaponga. as accountant at a salary of £364 per annum and that Mr Elmes would commence his duties on December 2. The committee's action was endorsed. The Secretary-Manager (Mr W. F. Taylor) reported as follows:—“The total receipts on power fund account amounted to £3,784, of which £2,653 was for electricity and from miscellaneous sources, and £1,130 on the trading account. The fifth instalment of the Akitio County Reticulation Loan came to hand on the second day of October. The balance still to arrive is £3,000. The new connected load for the month included 16 ranges, 19 waterheaters, and 12 motors. It is interesting to note that this load indicates a development of the system without new capital expenditure (beyond service lines) to obtain it. It is further augmented by the installation of washing machines, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners. and a number of heating points used for various purposes. An interesting incident was noted during the I month when a dairy farmer instructed us to install a radio point, in his cowshed. z
The Engineer (Mr D. Fraser) reported: The connected load has been increased as set out below: Eketahuna Borough, 13.040 k.w.v.; Eketahuna County, 81.988 k.w.v.; Pahiatua Borough. 53.320 k.w.v.; Pahiatua County, 78.769 k.w.v.; Akitio County, 10.377 k.w.v.; totals, 237.494 k.w.v.. The alterations to the Hukanui sub-station were completed. Alterations were commenced on both high and low tension lines. At Kaiporora on Dicks Road, a number of poles have been replaced, and provision made for an additional transformer which will improve the service to consumers in that area.
