DEVIL’S ISLAND
ESCAPE OF MANY PRISONERS. GUARDS UNPAID AND FOOD SCARCE. NEW YORK, November 14. An Overseas News agency correspondent who has returned from the Caribbean. said the Devil's Island guards have not been paid since June and food is scarce. It is estimated that at least 2000 prisoners have escaped, aided by guards, in the last three months.
