SHIPPING LOSSES
FOR WEEK TO NOVEMBER 5 ENEMY ATTACK ON CONVOY. MAJORITY OF SHIPS ESCAPE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) LONDON, November 12. The Admiralty reports that for the week ending on November 5, British and Allied shipping losses totalled 72,595 tons, of which Britain lost thirteen ships totalling 65,000 tons, including the Empress of Britain. The Admiralty, dealing with the German claim about an attack on a convoy last week, has received the news that a substantial majority of the ships escaped, while the identity of the raider is not yet known.
