URGENT PURCHASE (OR HIRE) OF MOTOR VEHICLES. National Defence and Army Training. W ITH a view to preparedness against possible requirements at short notice, the Government urgently desires information concerning sound motor vehicles which may, if required, be immediately transferred to the Government for purposes of National Defence and Army training. Vehicles in which the Government is particularly interested are pneumatic-tyred trucks of from 10 cwt. to 40 cwt. capacity; information is also required regarding the availability for similar use of a limited number of motor cars of modern type (preferably Chevrolet, Ford or Plymouth 1 , and motor cycles. Owners willing in the national interest to make available (with the option of purchase by the Government) vehicles of .suitable type are requested to forward immediately the following particulars:— (a) Make of vehicle and type of vehicle; (b) carrying capacity in the case of commercial vehicles; (c) seating accommodation in the case of cars; (d) year of model; (e) mileage run; (f) general condition; (g) location of vehicle and where it may be inspected; (h) whether offer is to sell or hire; (i) nature of any encumbrance on vehicle. Only vehicles in first-class condition will be considered as suitable for the purposes of the Government. Communicate AT ONCE with THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORT, WELLINGTON. Offers will not be considered after November 20. IMMEDIATE RESPONSE HELPS NATIONAL SECURITY.
