BURNED TO DEATH
TRAGEDY ON FARM. MAN TRAPPED IN BLAZING SHED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) THAMES. November 12. A farmer, Walter Bernard Nash, was burnt to death in the engine-room of his cowshed this morning. Fie and his wife left the house about 5.30 to do the milking ahd at approximately 7 o’clock the deceased went to the engine-room to turn on the separator. A few minutes later his wife, who was at the cow bails, heard her husband call out, “Turn the cows out, the place is on fire.” Mrs. Nash turned out the cows, by which time the whole engine-room was a mass of flames. Mr. Nash's body was found afterward in a sitting position, terribly charred. His right hand was on the wheel of the separator as though in the act of trying to put the belt on. A small benzine tin was found burst open and within eight inches of his feet. An inquest was opened later and was adjourned. The deceased was 40 years of age.
