ARK ROYAL IN ACTION

FLEET AIR ARM ATTACKS SARDINIA EXPLOSIONS AND FIRES IN DOCKS AREA. ABORTIVE ATTACK ON SHIP BY ITALIAN BOMBERS. Aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm attached to the Ark Royal made a vigorous attack on the main harbour of Sardinia, the 8.8. C. reports. Direct hits were scored on docks and other military objectives and big explosions were heard and fires started. The Ark Royal was attacked by Italian bombers, but no hits were scored and there were no casualties. The Ark Royal is the aircraft-carrier which the Germans have so frequently claimed to have sunk.
