AFTERNOON DRESS
WORN BY ELLEN DREW.
Hyacinth blue crepe makes a charming afternoon dress for the summer wardrobe of Ellen Drew, the Paramount star. The dress has flowing lines, bishop sleeves and interesting silver flower eyelets through which self-cords are drawn. A hyacinth turban with veiling to match Miss Drew's brown hair, grey-blue suede shoes, gloves and bag complete the costume, which serves as a "married without shopping notice” outfit, too! From the crockery counter of a chain store to cinema stardom in two prodigious hops is the way Ellen Drew managed her career. A beauty contest lifted her from the humdrum of bargain coffee cups, and sent her to Hollywood in search of fame. While she carried trays in a restaurant she kept hope and opportunity alive with occasional extra work.
