SHANGHAI COURTS
HANDED OVER BY FRENCH TO JAPAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SHANGHAI, November 8. The Japanese are apparently on the verge of taking over control of the Chungking-controlled second special district court and the third Kiangsu High Court, which are situated in the French Concession. The Nanking Regime recently appointed judges to take over the Benches. The Japanese and French have refused to make a statement. However, the courts are under a heavy French guard, including six armoured cars, other military units and plainclothes police. The French arrested a German-Jewish refugee news photographer trying to cover developments on behalf of the American-owned “Shanghai Evening Post." A later message says the Japanese announced that, the French had handed over the courts.
